Important Notice: Recall of Certain FreeStyle Libre 3 Sensors

Abbott Diabetes Care has announced a recall of certain FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus glucose sensors due to the risk of incorrect readings.

Some sensors may give glucose readings that are lower than your actual blood sugar level. If this happens over time and goes unnoticed, it could lead to incorrect treatment decisions, such as:

  • Eating more carbohydrates than needed

  • Skipping or delaying insulin doses

These actions may increase the risk of serious health complications, including injury or other medical emergencies.

Abbott has not released a specific list of affected product codes (NDCs).

As a precaution, all FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensors listed below may potentially be impacted:

If you are currently using one of these sensors, please verify whether your specific sensor is affected.

What Should You Do?

  1. Check your sensor immediately
    Visit: www.freestylecheck.com

    Select “CONFIRM SENSOR SERIAL NUMBER” and enter your sensor’s serial number. Instructions for locating the serial number are available on the website.

  2. If your sensor is affected:

    - Stop using it immediately
    - Dispose of the sensor
    - Follow the instructions on the website to request a free replacement
